Dr. Cranquis' Mumbled Gripes: Hey you crazy kids

Spending too much time on Tumblr? Well now you can make your procrastination time a little more productive by perusing USMLEpathslides. It’s well organized and pretty useful for studying, from what I’ve seen, so check it out!

Ok, I’ll admit, my first reaction to this recommendation was: “Ugh, pathology slides. So glad I don’t have to pretend to understand those anymore.”

Then I checked out the website. HOT DIGGITY DOG, it’s not JUST pathology slides! There’s gross anatomy pictures, physical exam findings, radiology images — it’s a veritable cornucopia of visual study aids! And so well-organized that it just about makes me nauseous with envy.

“YOU NEED STUDY FOR STEP 1, YOU HATE READ BOOK? YOU GO THIS WEBSITE FOR WHILE!”

I was about to say yes! I’m studying for Step 1! Then I realized I was happy about studying for step 1. That made me sad. But I was happy that the one distraction I’ve limited myself too has also become a study tool! Life’s just up and down.
^_^ :) :/ :| :( -_-

Hey guys, I know this is confusing, but it’s really not that confusing. Just know the concepts and the checklist and what I said in lecture. It won’t be that confusing.

It’s confusing, but it’s not confusing. Thanks. The checklist is basically everything. So just know everything and it won’t be that confusing. But she knows it’s confusing. At least she tried to make an effort.

Anemia of chronic disease represents another hypoproliferative anemia. The cytokines also cause abnormalities of iron metabolism, including increased storage iron (stained blue by Prussian Blue Dye) and decreased serum iron. These abnormalities of iron distribution are generally not felt to be a significant cause of the anemia in this disorder, but are useful as laboratory markers. The increased storage iron is reflected as increased serum ferritin; thus, increased serum ferritin in conjunction with decreased serum iron is characteristic of anemia of chronic disease.

Little artistic gems like this sometimes can make studying a bit better. This looks like a watercolor wallpaper. (via my Pathology case studies)
