The Gunner Song ft. Harvard Medical School

This parody video of “Thrift Shop” was created for Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine Revisit 2013, by HMS/HSDM class of 2016.

Although I call myself a non-gunner all the time…there is some stuff in here that is too perfect NOT to share.

AWESOME.

(The funny thing is, BY DEFINITION, no gunners could have been involved in the making of this video!)

This past weekend was the Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) Activist Leadership Institute. Being one of those selected across the country from the tons of applications, we experienced a whirlwind of information and workshops to be better organizers, activists, orators, and framers through the context of future abortion providers. At the end, as a “charger,” we discussed what our ideal 2016 would be in bout 10 minutes. Stuff in the circle is what we want. Stuff outside the circle is stuff we want to get rid of.
Apparently there was a lot of agreemtn on - men having babies and safe (implied) sex.
Hell yeah. 2016 is looking awesome.

Medical School at $278,000 Means Even Bernanke Son Has Debt

Dude. I know both those students!

The cost of medical education, or simply any type of undergraduate/graduate education is getting more and more ridiculous. In just one generation - medical school costs a couple thousand to about $50,000.

And people wonder why there’s a doctor shortage? Medical education, medical care costs, and all the like feed each other constantly that’s metastasizing over all our daily lives. We hear about it all the time, the number of articles coming out about this issue is increasing every week. My debt is higher than yours, yours is highest! Oh no, this can’t stand! We need to let people know about how this is even pushing people away from this profession.

We can complain about it all we want. We put a spotlight on it, about how the costs have increased, about how the interest accrued over time makes those costs increase even more but really, that huge of a number, it sort of makes it seem impossible to deal with. Spotlights only do so much if there’s not really any actionable item.

Impossible is nothing, if we collectively put our minds together to work on it. What we do now has an effect on what happens later. We can mitigate the problem, and help make things more manageable. Just because they don’t help us specifically doesn’t mean it isn’t the right thing to do. So call your senator or representative, tell them how important it is that education be more affordable. The costs of higher education have skyrocketed, for both private and public schools. Action does make a difference. Look at what the students of UIC Medical school did last year when their school tried to raise tuition by 21%.

Don’t just sit back and let things happen. The best friend of a villain isn’t his technology or money, but your apathy.

Avaaz - Selling India's health to the EU. Help stop India's fatal mistake!

In days, India’s position as the world’s pharmacy may be overturned. But we can persuade Commerce Minister Sharma to save our industry and protect patients everywhere.

For years India has made life saving medicine affordable for millions here and all around the world. But now, Minister Sharma is heading to Brussels to make final decisions in a secretive trade treaty between India and the European Union. This treaty will likely benefit big pharma and make drug prices skyrocket so sick people, especially the poor, can no longer afford them. India’s farmers stand to lose big too.

Our courts just ruled against drug giant Novartis, keeping cheap drugs in reach of cancer patients. Minister Sharma strongly welcomed the result — now we need to remind him to take the same pro-poor stance and put India’s health above big pharma. We have only one week to to convince him to act. Click the link above to join the call and share widely!

THIS IS IMPORTANT PEOPLE. Help take action!
