Last day of Family Med rotation…
As I said bye to everyone, they’re all like, what? so soon? You’re the only student that ever talked to us! (MAs, Nurses, Administrators, Records keeper, etc.)
My doc gets a lot of med students apparently (he’s a pretty good teacher and has been doing this for years) but I for some reason find it hard to believe med students don’t talk to anyone else besides their preceptor/doctor. It’d be a pretty monotonous rotation if I only talked to 1 person for 6 weeks.
No disrespect to the doctor (who did an amazing job teaching me a helluva lot of stuff, seriously, he’s pretty damn awesome), but they’re the ones that taught me all the little tricks and hints to dealing with certain patients and taking blood and giving shots and all the procedures too! If I don’t see them ever again, I’ll miss them. If I do see them, fantastic. At least while I was working with them I can say I had friends to mess and joke around with and ask for help to make the time I spent even more enjoyable. E-mails all exchanged, here’s hoping we keep the connection going.
Just about everybody’s a potential friend. I’d rather work with friends than see them as nothing but large pairs of scrubs..
